The
Importance of Philanthropy
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." — Booker T. Washington

Philanthropy can be defined in several ways.
- The effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations
- Love of humankind in general
- Something, such as an activity or institution, intended to promote human welfare.
However you define it, the end result is a positive one. Perhaps the greatest result is the feeling of fulfillment for those who are philanthropic, who give to others by sharing the blessings they have received in their lives.
A shared vision for the future.
Welcome House has a vision for its future. The West Haven Foundation helps share in that vision by providing philanthropic opportunities through the Foundation's fundraising programs.
West Haven Foundation is introducing a new philanthropic opportunity for donors and friends of Welcome House. Our new planned giving program will help ensure a bright and stable future for all the clients of Welcome House.
Our staff members are more than just employees. They are caring, sharing, philanthropic people who give so much more than an eight-hour workday. We hope you will consider our planned giving opportunities as another way to join the philanthropic family of residents and staff of Welcome House.
"Philanthropy is almost the only virtue which is sufficiently appreciated by mankind." — Henry David Thoreau |
